Your Leagues – Midnight Madness UK

If you haven’t heard by now, you haven’t been listening.

Midnight Madness is the premier tournament in the UK, bringing together streetballers and pro’s, semi-pro’s and amateurs in a frenzy of high-octane ball.  The program was originally created in 1999 to help combat gun crime in London, using a series of basketball ‘open runs’ through the night as a positive diversionary activity for 14-25 year olds.  In large part due to the calibre of players that have rolled through over the years, as well as the support of all the ballers and spectators over the years, MM have evolved their program into the largest summer basketball competition in Europe, with over 5,000 players fighting to compete in our events each year.  Even more exciting is that the event is watched by thousands of live spectators and a tv/digital audience in excess of 6 million.

Their league is almost over for the year, but you can still catch great highlights and sick basketball through their site: http://www.midnight-madness.com/.

Your Leagues – Quai 54

If you haven’t heard, the Jordan brand “Quai 54″ tournament is without doubt the premier streetball tournament in Europe.  The competition is sick; teams from across the continent flock to Paris to fight out what has been described as the best streetball in the world.  That’s right, THE WORLD.  Forget Rucker and Holcombe parks, Paris is where its at…

From athletic, mind-blowing dunk contests to some of the most physical plays you’ll ever see on the blacktop, Quai 54 brings together the best streetball has to offer.

Check out the amazing video (with many guest appearances) on the Jordan Quai 54 site.

This year the tournament was held on June 26 and 27, with the hometown La Fusion team taking out the title of International Streetball Champions.

Check out the ridiculous video of this year’s tournament over at Streetballblog.

Your Leagues – Golden Hoops, NY

One of NYC’s most well known and eagerly anticipated summer basketball tournaments from the ’80s and ’90s will be making its grand return in style this summer when the New York Daily News brings back “Golden Hoops.”

The event was hugely popular back in the day, but with time fell into obscurity after the AAU scene grew bigger and grassroots teams began traveling coast-to-coast to tournaments around the country consistently on the weekends.

In its heyday, the tournament spawned the likes of Kenny Anderson, Stephon Marbury, Lamar Odom and Ron Artest.

We’re looking forward to videos of the tournament…
